M8 taking over NYC

Posted by Kyle Inman on December 12, 2011 – 11:10 pm

New York hasn’t had a sneaker to step into since Pat Ewing’s Adidas in the late 80′s.  Of all the stars that have played for the Knicks, not one has brought the sneaker game of Carmelo Anthony to town.

After Ewing gave the city the Adidas shoe he went on to start his own brand of ‘Pat Ewing’ kicks and that’s when it came to an end.

Grandmama Larry Johnson never duplicated the one hot converse shoe he had when he played for the Hornets as a Knick.  Stat’s Nike’s are okay but all his shoes have a strap on them and I don’t do straps.  Allan Houston always had the nicest Nike exclusives but nobody has hit NYC with that signature shoe game like the Melo M8.

The City deserves it too.  It was just a couple years ago that all New York had was the Starbury, Stephon Marbury’s $15 sneaker to rock.  Don’t get me wrong it was a great thing of him to do but the shoe was terrible.  The M8 will run you 135.99 and expect to see it all over Madison Square Garden on Christmas day.

The house that Jordan built brought it with these and I need two pairs.  New York is a city that takes it’s basketball seriously and everybody is counting on Carmelo Anthony to be the guy that takes them to the next level.  The Knicks are going to go as far as Anthony takes them. 26 points 7 rebounds per game last season and he’s a  truly impossible player to defend 1-on-1.   A superstar needs a superstar signature shoe and that’s what Anthony has with the M8.  It’s the start of the Melo era in New York and this one says RIP to the competition.

Kobe’s new shoe isn’t any better than the previous two versions.  I never liked a Kobe shoe because I can’t hoop in something that’s low top because I’m afraid I will bust my ankles.  The new one comes with an ankle brace but no way would I cop it.

Derrick Rose Adidas is almost there.  His shoe really gets it done from a basketball standpoint but you can’t wear them anywhere but the court because of how ugly they are.

Kevin Durant’s sneaker looks like a poor mans Kobe sneaker.  KD always has the most basic trash Nike but that’s cool his game does his talking but really Nike put him on something because his sneaker game is not matching up to his hoop game.

LeBron new sneaker  is nice I’d roll with it but that’s for you 305 Heat fans.  I’m a Knicks fan so I’m not wearing it.  LeBron and the Heat are the team that stands in the way.

Brandon Jennings has an Under Armour sneaker that’s decent but I’m passing on and John Wall has a Reebok ZIG shoe, which you would never catch me in.

At the end of the day Carmelo Anthony is giving New York the hottest sneaker in the game right now, the M8.
