Anthony Davis game-winning block 73-72 UK
UK will remain the No. 1 team in the country after securing a one point victory over super-stacked North Carolina.
Freshman Anthony Davis ‘the unibrow’ didn’t have a great game on offense, scoring only seven points but Davis is no regular freshman. He kept tough on defense and cleaned the glass with his nine boards. With UK up by one with a few seconds left John Henson, who is one of the longest players in the country, got the ball and raised up for the close jumper. Davis shocked everyone when he went up and blocked it and grabbed the ball and time expired. It’s rare for such a young player to go make the game-winning play on defense when he wasn’t having his way all game long. I would take Davis over any freshman in the country.
Freshman Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was great. 17 points and 11 rebounds on 6-10 shooting and showed his ability to defend.
Doron Lamb scored 14 points including some fearless clutch late buckets where he showed his quick first step when the game looked like it was going to go UNC’s way in the last couple of minutes.
Terrence Jones 14 points on 5-14 shooting and 11 rebounds and Darius Miller added 12 points off the bench on 4-8 shooting.
For the Tar Heels it was big man Tyler Zeller who had the best game down low, 14 Pts, 8 Reb.
Harrison Barnes was held in check all day long by the tough defense of the ‘Cats. 14 points on 5-12 shooting and failed to takeover the game when the window was open.
John Henson was held to 4-11 shooting and 10 points
Freshman P.J. Hairston scored 11 points in 14 minutes and never fails to put the ball in the basket.
Reggie Bullock hit the big three to get the Tar Heels within one point but it wasn’t enough. He finished with 8 points in 19 minutes
