Perry Jones III is BACK
After serving a 6 game suspension for taking benefits, Baylor star sophmore Perry Jones III made his return tonight in a 90-54 blowout of Prairie View A&M.. Who? Jones dropped 27 points and grabbed six rebounds, showing very little rust hitting for 10-14 from the field. Included in the 27pts was the several highlight worthy dunks that displayed the athleticism that has scouts drooling over the super soph.
Jones will give the Bears a tremendous boost and should be in serious contention to win the Big12 player of the year if the team has the success they should in league play. Average 13.9pts and 7.2reb as a freshman last season and should be their best player from here on out.
No. 8 Baylor went 5-0 without Jones against basically nobody. The only slight hint of competition they have seen is San Diego State, whom they dealt with 77-66.
The Bears will be tested in their next game on 12/4 at Northwestern. Northwestern is 6-0 behind the play of John Shurna who had a stat line of 25 Pts, 8 Reb, 2 Ast, 3 Stl, 3 Blk in a win over Georgia Tech in Atlanta tonight.
I predict Baylor will get by with a win but I hope it’s a tough road test because I want to see how they will react, and I’m sure it will be. The Bears have elite length and athleticism, I want to see how good they are as a team after playing an extremely soft schedule so far.
On a side note, How is Scott Drew recruiting these guys to BAYLOR? Hmmmmmm
